Digital literacy to combat disinformation
Online, anyone can fall victim to disinformation.
At Digital Safe for Minors, we aim to promote responsible digitalization and strengthen digital literacy—not just as a technical skill, but as a tool to combat disinformation and enhance online safety.
The situation in data
Social media has become the main source of political information for young people.
According to the Eurobarometer “Youth Survey 2024” a significant majority (76%) of young people believed they had been exposed to disinformation and fake news in the seven days prior to the survey, whereas 70% of the participants in the survey were confident they could recognise disinformation.
From which of the following sources do you get most of your information on political issues?
35% of responses from the top 10 AI engines contain false information
According to a NewsGuard report, the share of AI-generated responses containing false information is rising, increasing by 17 percentage points compared to 2024.
Trust in AI varies by age in Europe: 72% of people under 35 feel confident, compared to 41% of those over 55
This trust gap also reflects gender differences, with men reporting higher confidence in AI (62%) than women (50%).
